Wengen is located on a sunny, south facing shelf above the magnificent Lauterbrunnen Valley in the Jungfrau region of Switzerland. This area is dominated by the peaks of the Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau - one of the most spectacular and dramatic areas of mountain scenery in Switzerland - and possibly the world.
You arrive in Wengen on the mountain train from Lauterbrunnen, fifteen minutes below in the valley. There is no road to Wengen, although there are plenty of paths, should you fancy walking up!Trains from all airports connect to Lauterbrunnen, and if you arrive by car the railway station has a covered car park.
The main village of Wengen centres around the station and the High Street, with chalets dotted around the mountain sides. There is little traffic - just local service vehicles, tractors and electric hotel buggies, and so is particularly safe for children. A wide range of facilities is on offer : cinema, olympic size pool, ice rink, curling.supermarkets, delicatessen, bakers, hire shops, restaurants, bars……everything in fact that you could need, even a nightclub or two!
The surrounding area includes Murren across the valley, Grindelwald over the mountains, Interlaken down between Thunersee and Brienzersee, and many other places all linked by the Swiss Railways. Link
